1969 I went to the University of Delaware and graduated in 1973 with a B.A. majoring in Sociology.
1973 I spent
the summer backpacking in Europe.
In the Fall of 1973 I went to Cambridge Massachusetts and attended Episcopal
Theological School. I enrolled in the Master of Divinity program hoping to
become a priest even though women were not ordained to the priesthood. In 1974 I
attended an illegal ordination of women priests which took place in
Philadelphia. In the fall of 1974 my school changed it name to Episcopal
Divinity School.
In 1975 I dropped out of school.
1975 – 1977 worked in Dover at Playtex and at the Kent County Law Library.
Oct 1977 I got a job at Harvard Law Library. In the fall of 1978 I finally
met Archibald Cox the former Watergate Prosecutor. He would bring in vegetables
from his garden and I along with other people at Harvard Law School got some home-grown
vegetables.
While at Harvard Law Library I worked as a library assistant in Monographs, then
Monograph supervisor, Interlibrary Loan Assistant and finally Treasure Room
Supervisor. (while I was worked at Harvard Law Library there were about 100
people working there too. The law library had about 800,000 books.
I was there 11 years. In the Treasure Room one day I met Bo Derek and John
Derek with Alan Dershowitz. ( I felt I was in a Woody Allen movie). I showed
them old books.
During this time I decided to go to library school. I attended Simmons College
at night. In 1988 I graduated from Simmons.
I also joined the movement for a Harvard union. I was there while
the vote was being counted and I ended up on the evening news and having my
picture in the New York Times.
(I was one of the anonymous people but I could pick out the side of my head.!!!)
Harvard got a union in 1988
In the fall of 1988 I left Harvard and started working at Foley Hoag and
Eliot a law firm in Boston with 150 attorneys at the time. From 1988 – 2002 I
worked at 2 other law firms as a reference librarian .
In 1996 my father and my sister died.
In 2002 my law firm merged with a Philadelphia law firm. I was part of a
reduction in force.
In 2002 I moved my mother up to Cambridge Massachusetts into assisted living.
In 2008 my mother died.
In 2004 I started working for an library agency. I go from law library to
library taking care of their library collections.
