Well, speaking of blinking. How in the world could we be celebrating our 40th year since graduating from DHS? It certainly was a blink for me. I hope the next 40 years don't go as quickly.
Well here a quick and hopefully, not a boring recap of my last 40years…….
I left Delaware and went to college in York PA. I graduated with a BS in Education, and a BA in Business Management. I never really liked teaching, so when I was recruited by the Bon Ton for their management training program, I began a career in retail. I began as a buyer in the Home division, progressing thru the ranks to a. Merchandising Manager. From the Bon-Ton, I have worked for other retail companies such as Boscov's, The Pfaltzgraff Company, World Kitchen, and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I am currently working in the area of product development, in Housewares. I am unable to attend the reunion in August, because I will be in China, working in factories completing a cookware program for the spring of 2010. My career has enabled me to travel widely thru the United States, Europe, The Soviet Union, Asia and South America. I have met wonderful people, and had fabulous experiences. But a change is in the wind for me….
On the personal side of my life, I married an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. During the marriage, I added a Masters Degree in Arts and Religion to my education, as my husband worked on a PhD in Theology. During this time I was lucky enough to live and study in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe for a semester, before the wall was down….a bit scary at times, but what a wonderful experience. I have 1 son, Benjamin, who is a Jr. at the College of Wooster, in Wooster Ohio.
I have been accepted the Nursing Education program and I will be starting nursing degree in January 2010... This is a field I have always wanted to enter, and now is the time!! Upon completion of this program, I want to relocate to the Cape Cod area, and begin the next phase of my professional and personal adventures.
I often think of the frequently quoted Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." I know that as I reflect on my years in Dover, and subsequently my many years since life in Dover, I can certainly say that our generation has seen the fulfillment of this curse….and what wonderful times it has been!
My Best Regards, to you all. .I am sorry to miss the weekend and seeing you all. Have a Blast!!
