1969 2009

After DHS, I went to UD, and the summer I graduated I spent 4 months living and working in Norway … skiing in June, no darkness all night … it was great.  I was pretty fluent in Norwegian by the time I left, but can only remember the swear words now.  When I got back to Delaware , I moved to Wilmington and got a job with a local attorney.  I went back to school for certification as a Paralegal, and worked in the legal field for about 5 years before moving to Corporate America.  I’ve been with Avon Products … yes, the “Ding-Dong Avon Calling” company! … for the past 25 years, most recently working in the Online Division producing the online Avon Brochures for Representatives and Customers.

I met my husband, Jack, the first week I lived in Wilmington and we were married in ‘74.  Jack introduced me to the world of slow-pitch softball and ice hockey and after a lifetime of total indifference to sports, I became a softball groupie and fan of the Philadelphia Flyers.  I even took up a sport myself … fencing … and participated in the First State Games.  I was eliminated early, but got the t-shirt!  We have been blessed with three wonderful children and one grandchild (the light of my life!!).  Our oldest daughter graduated from UD and works in Wilmington ; our son just got his masters in architecture at U of Miami (leads on any architecture jobs would be MOST welcome!!), and our youngest daughter just graduated from Del Tech with a degree in Radiology.  We enjoy doing family vacations, mostly at the beach, and love that the kids still want to hang with us old folks.

I also can’t believe it’s been 40 years since we graduated from DHS.  I’ve been reading the Then and Now pages (kudos to Ken for setting up the website) and the wonderful adventures everyone has had in these last 40 years and can’t wait to reconnect at the reunion in August.
