1969 2009 (& hubby Bobby)

My how the years have flown by.  I married the boy next store or really down the road. Bobby and I got married in December of 1969  and ran a dairy and grain farm.  In 2002 we sold the dairy cows and took our sons into partnership with us.  Now we have three chicken houses, raise heifers for others (young replacements for dairy cows), and till about 1000 acres of grain and hay.  Our life has been busy.  We have six children, four are married and I now have nine grandchildren (the best part of having children).  We have three daughters to graduate from the University of Delaware.  Our fourth daughter is going to the Paul Mitchell Academy in September to be a hairdresser.

Farming has had it's ups and downs.  The weather is always a factor.  It may be too dry or too wet affecting the crops and our yields.  There is also the market.  The prices for our products may be up or down throughout the year or years.  Also the inputs like any business can vary from year to year.  We cannot set our prices like the stores or manufacturing companies can.  Farming is a tough life, but it has allowed us to work together as a family.  Our goal is to leave the land in as good as or better than we have found it.

I worked with my husband all those years and took a part time job five years ago.  I still do the book work for the farm and help as much as I can.  Life is always busy and the work varies from day to day.  We are involved in a couple of organizations and especially with our small church.  Our family lives close by and we love getting together whenever possible.  My life has been full and very blessed. May God bless all of you.
